YOGA
The UPAYA collection is essential.
Your skin is your body’s largest organ, constantly absorbing from the environment and the fabrics we wear.
Standard yoga mats are commonly made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a plastic that releases chemicals into the environment during both production and use. When heated during yoga practice, PVC mats emit a plethora of harmful chemicals — known human carcinogens when exposed through inhalation and contact. Conventional yoga mats are not biodegradable and can take hundreds of years to decompose.
Hartwick Atelier’s exclusive range of sustainable yoga mats, handwoven by master weavers in India with natural cotton, and quilted for softness and durability.
Our Ayurvedic Edition embodies the principles of Ayurveda; whereby the properties of the plants used in the natural dye are being absorbed by the skin. Indigo, Turmeric, and Marigold editions each offer a unique set of properties that contribute to human health.
UPAYA mats tuck over the end of a standard-size yoga mat, or can be used on their own for exercise, at the beach, or anywhere you need an extra layer between you and the world.
Choose what you absorb.
