The fabric for this skirt is exquisitely tailored with handspun matka silk, handwoven in jewel-tone emerald green with a black silk weft to create complex tonal layers using a technique made popular in 18th century ball gowns (changeant silk). This full skirt has a striking, dark iridescence. It’s a real showstopper.

This skirt is made from handspun and handwoven natural silk. From the harvest to the yarn to the weave, the material is made by hand without the use of machines, and without electricity. It is a textile that holds the story of natural and economic sustainability, community and ancient craft.
